Walter Marks, a solicitor by profession, held the federal seat of Wentworth for the Nationalist Party from 1919 to 1939. He was Parliamentary Undersecretary for External Affairs from 1921 to 1923 and voted against the Bruce Government's Maritime Industries Bill in 1929, thus precipitating the government's defeat at subsequent general elections.
